Several large retailers have launched recall procedures for various organic sausages, due to salmonella. Double check your purchases!
Did you buy sausage for an upcoming aperitif? If you have opted for organic, you could be affected by a massive recall, according to the Rappel Conso site. Indeed, several organic sausages, sold at Lidl, Super U and Casino are withdrawn from sale, for a risk of contamination by salmonella.
What products are recalled?
- lidl thus recalls an organic dry sausage of 200 grams, marketed from November 25, 2022 throughout France. The lots affected are: 20928520 and 20928520. Both have the same barcode (20928520).
- The sign U recalls two products of the U brand sold throughout France: an organic dry sausage of 200 grams (barcode: 3256220369657) and a pure organic pork dry sausage also of 200 grams (barcode: 3256220369657).
- Casino recalls a 200-gram organic dry sausage from the Casino brand, marketed since November 21, 2022 in its stores throughout France. The product bears the barcode 3222476843128.
What to do if you have eaten one of these sausages?
According to the site, if you have ingested one or more slices of sausage affected by this recall, you should watch for manifestations: “Food poisoning caused by salmonella results in gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, vomiting) of sudden onset often accompanied by fever and headaches which generally occur 6 to 72 hours after consumption of the contaminated products.”
In the event of the appearance of symptoms, it is advisable to consult your doctor, notifying him of this consumption. Young children, pregnant women, immunocompromised subjects and the elderly must be particularly vigilant.
If there are no symptoms within 7 days of consuming the affected products, there is no need to worry.
People still in possession of one of these products are invited not to consume it and to bring it back to the point of sale to obtain a refund. This recall procedure will end on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
