Attention! These bras carry a high risk of cancer

Attention These bras carry a high risk of cancer

Using sports bras instead of normal bras while doing sports can provide much more comfort for women. However, the Environmental Health Center (CEH) has tested sports bras of famous brands. The results of this test found high levels of BPA, a chemical compound used to make certain types of plastic on sports bras and sportswear, which can cause harmful health effects such as asthma, cardiovascular disease and obesity.

LIMIT YOUR TIME WITH YOUR SPORTS CLOTHES

The observer said that to date, their research has only found BPA in polyester-based clothing containing spandex. “We want brands to reformulate their products to eliminate all bisphenols, including BPA. In the meantime, we recommend limiting the time you spend in your gym clothes by changing them after your workout.”

BPA (Bisphenol A) is found in many everyday products, from water bottles and canned foods to toys and flooring. Exposure to BPA in adults has been associated with diabetes, heart disease, cancer, obesity and erectile dysfunction. Premature death has also been associated with exposure to BPA, according to a 2020 study. In more recent research, BPA has also been associated with asthma in school-aged girls.

FINDING HIGH BPA IN CLOTHING IS CONCERNING

Kaya Allan Sugerman, director of CEH’s illegal toxic threats program, said in a statement, “People are exposed to BPA through ingestion, ingestion of food or drinking water from containers in which BPA has leaked, or absorbed through the skin. Studies show that BPA can be absorbed through the skin and then into the blood. “Sports bras and athletic T-shirts are worn for hours and you have to sweat through them, which is why finding such high levels of BPA in our clothing is worrying.”
