Attention Free increases its termination costs on this date

No more termination costs at 49 euros! Free has made the decision to set up its prices, a price turn which already arouses many reactions to its customers. Here is how much you will have to pay to terminate.

Terminating your subscription to Free will soon cost more. The French mobile operator recently announced that the prices would be increased, and this in the coming months. It was through an email sent to its subscribers that the company was responsible for presenting the bad news. The least we can say is that it was not welcomed with joy.

This is not the first time that Free has announced increase its termination costs. In November 2024, the company had decided to increase the prices on all its freebox offers: a decision that only concerned new subscribers. However today, it is all customers, alumni as recent, who will have to pay more. What is the price increase and when will it be implemented?

The invoice will necessarily be more salty for free customers this year. And for good reason, the famous operator decided to increase the amount of its termination fees by 10 euros, going from 49 to 59 euros. A change at first glance harmless, which still represents an increase of 20%. The increase in prices will be implemented from the 1er April 2025. No doubt a way for free to retain its customers, discouraging it from putting an end to its subscriptions.

In order to calm the protests of its customers, who would have hoped not to have to pay an additional 10 euros to terminate their subscriptions, Free exposed its arguments. The French company notably highlighted that its Freebox offer gave its customers the opportunity to benefit “Automatically Disney Channel (49) and National Geographic (chain 60) channels”,, “thus offering an even larger choice of programs for the whole family”all without paying an more penny in terms of subscription.

Because the increase in free termination fees modifies your general subscription conditions, it is still possible to terminate your contract at no cost and without right to compensation, only in the next four months. Beyond this period, you can still take advantage of the reimbursement offers for other competing operators.

SFR, Bouygues Telecom or Orange can pay for example in charge of your termination costs. These offers, which are often capped at 100 or 150 euros, are largely enough to overcome 59 euros in free. The steps are relatively simple.
