Attention budding photographers! WhatsApp should soon welcome new, particularly powerful image editing tools. And for good reason, they are doped with artificial intelligence.
Meta is never short of ideas to improve its popular instant messenger WhatsApp and, for this, it can count on artificial intelligence. While all services are working to integrate this technology, Mark Zuckerberg’s company has decided to do the same. Thus, the application should soon welcome the Meta AI chatbot, a real personal assistant capable of answering questions on all kinds of subjects, by accessing information on the Internet in real time with Bing (see our article). Meta is also increasing its experiments, integrating generative AI functions into beta versions of the application to create personalized images and chat with celebrity chatbots (see our article). But the firm does not intend to stop there. AssembleDebug, from the site TheSpAndroid, discovered in the latest beta version of the application (2.24.7.13) new functions to edit photos to put them in status or to send them in the conversation. Here too, AI is involved.
WhatsApp Photo Editing: New Tools to Beautify Your Photos
In this beta version of WhatsApp, a new spark icon appears when attaching images in chats or posting them in status updates. It provides access to three new functions. The first, Backdrop, should allow users to change the background of an image easily, while the second, Expand, is supposed to allow AI to generate image content beyond the frame of the image. the picture. Finally, the third, Restyle, should allow you to optimize the style of an image or photo. Functions clearly inspired by what we already find on Photoshop – the Photoshop Camera application also allows you to perform high-level photo editing for free but accessible to all – or Photoroom. These new possibilities will be offered directly alongside the options already existing in the application (crop, add text, add a sticker, etc.).
We do not have much more information at the moment, particularly regarding the major language model used. We can legitimately bet on Llama 2, developed by Meta and already used for several functions in WhatsApp. Please note, however, that these new editing options do not yet work in the application, which suggests that their development is still in progress. Additionally, this new interface is only available to a small portion of users registered in the private beta program. In short, we shouldn’t be able to enjoy it for a while.
