Attempted murder – the police fired shots

Late on Monday evening, the police received a call from a social housing in Upplands Väsby north of Stockholm about a man who was behaving threateningly.
When the police arrived at the residence, they found a person who was badly stabbed and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
– The suspected perpetrator had already left or left when we got there, says Stockholm police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl.

The police launched a hunt for the suspect with the help of both a helicopter and dog patrols and found him near the residence.

– In connection with the arrest, warning shots are fired, in any case. The person, who is 35 years old, was not hit by any shots, says Daniel Wikdahl.

However, the suspect has a head injury that he sustained in an unclear manner and was therefore taken to hospital for a check-up.

Early on Tuesday morning, the police still had cordons at the crime scene and at the place where the man was arrested, as well as at a place where seizures were made.

The incident is classified as attempted murder.

The police’s use of weapons in the incident has been reported to the department for special investigations according to routine, the police write on their website.
