He faces two counts each of attempted murder, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carelessly using a firearm, and four counts of carelessly storing a firearm in connection with an alleged shooting at a Wallaceburg-area trailer park in June 2022.
Defense lawyer Frank Retar told court Kelly has elected trial by Superior Court judge alone should the matter go to trial.
There is a publication ban on any evidence during this phase of court proceedings.
According to previously published reports, Chatham-Kent police officers were called to Shiloh Park, a year-round trailer and mobile home park near Wallaceburg, about 11 pm on June 11, 2022, after witnesses reported hearing gunshots.
Officers found a home in the park, with people inside, had been hit by gunshots several times, police said at the time. No one was hurt.
A suspect was arrested the following afternoon, police said at the time.
Two bullet holes could be seen in the window of a trailer in a lot on the edge of the park, near Bluewater Line, at the time. Another window in a trailer popout was broken.
