A man in his 30s was arrested after an attempted murder on a train platform north of Stockholm on Sunday evening.
He is suspected of having tried to bring down an unknown 15-year-old girl on the track.
A police patrol happened to be there and stopped him.
The suspected attempted murder occurred at the Jakobsberg commuter train station shortly before 9 p.m.
The man was caught red-handed by a police patrol who happened to be on the platform.
– We have no information that he has pushed the girl, but has approached her in a way that made it impossible for her to get out of the situation. At the moment, the suspicion reaches up to attempted murder, says Edvard Anbåtels, on-call preliminary investigation leader at the police.
The man was arrested during the night by prosecutors, on probable grounds suspected of the crime.
– He is unknown to the girl, says Edvard Anbåtels.
Was it an unprovoked attack?
– Right now, nothing indicates otherwise.
No train was entering the station in the immediate vicinity of the incident.
– But the traffic was active, says Edvard Anbåtels.
The crime is said to have been captured by surveillance cameras on the platform. The arrested man denies any crime.
