According to the UN humanitarian agency Ocha, at least 100,000 people in Gaza have fled to Rafah on the border with Egypt in recent days. Many people have been forced to flee the town of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, an area where fierce fighting between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas is still ongoing.

Rafah has also been attacked several times recently.

“The situation is very, very difficult”

One of the people in Rafah as a result of intense fighting is Amina Shamlakh al-Rafi. Her husband was arrested by Israeli forces after the war broke out and together with her four children she has now fled to Rafah, where the family lives in a makeshift tent.

– We have no money, nothing. We will freeze to death in the tent. The situation is very, very difficult, she tells the Reuters news agency.

A large part of Gaza’s 2.3 million inhabitants have been forced from their homes since the war broke out.

Civilians are affected

A large part of the necessary supplies do not reach and international aid organizations and politicians from all over the world have raised the alarm about the situation of civilians in the area.

– I want to take care of my girls, I don’t know how to get diapers for the little one. I want to be able to feed them. Since they took my husband, the situation is really small, says Amina Shamlakh al-Rafi.

The Hamas-backed health authorities in Gaza state that around 21,700 people have been killed. Over 1,000 people were killed in the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7.
