It was at 10.40 on Sunday morning that police and paramedics were called to East Street in London.
Three injured people were found. One of them died at the scene, and the other two – a man and a woman – have been taken to hospital with unclear injuries.
Man arrested
According to the police, a man, believed to be in his 60s, was quickly arrested at the scene and has been detained.
Police are not looking for any additional perpetrators.
The incident is not being called a terrorist attack by the police.
“The police are working hard to find out exactly what happened,” says police officer Peter Stevens the statement.
According to Sky News some kind of market must have been going on at the site when the attack took place.
