Paris Cité University is in shock. This Wednesday, January 25, a student was violently attacked with a knife in the establishment, located in the 6th arrondissement of the capital in the district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the facts took place around noon and the police add that the young woman was coming out of an elevator when she was targeted. The victim is seriously injured and was taken to hospital, but according to information from BFM TVHis days are not in danger.

The trail of a “private dispute”

The attacker of the young girl fled but was quickly arrested by the police, only a few minutes after the attack according to the police. The man was taken into custody. No identifying information was revealed by the investigators and it is not known either if the suspect knows the victim. However, the investigators seem to think so since the preferred track for the time being is that of a “private dispute”, reports The Parisian.

The investigators dispatched to the scene immediately continue the investigations. The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for “attempted voluntary homicide” according to the continuous news channel and the judicial police are in charge of the investigations. A section of the Paris Cité University, the entire seventh floor, has also been marked out for the smooth running of the investigation.

An emergency cell opened at Paris Cité University

Shortly after the attack, the University of Paris Cité set up, with the help of the Paris Samu, a medico-psychological emergency unit.

At the time of the attack and the moments that followed, the students remained in class and were confined to the classrooms for about thirty minutes according to the testimonies collected by the Ile-de-France branch of BFM.
