Athletics: Victory in Duplanti’s season opener – but pulled out on six metres

It wasn’t the most famous starting field to make up the pole vault competition in Astana and Duplantis had an easy ride to victory.

Armand Duplantis started by sailing over 5.60 meters, breaking once at 5.80 and then clearing it.

He was the only one and he won the competition easily.

Duplantis raised the bar to 6.00 but failed on all three attempts, ending up at 5.80.
