Athletics: Olympic medalist Fred Kerley was arrested – suspected of violence against an official

According to a police report, Fred Kerley allegedly tried to force his way to his car during an ongoing operation and thus disturbed the police.

In the images from the Miami Beach police body camera, you can see an intense discussion between Kerley and several of the officers.

A physical confrontation ensued and the American track and field star resisted, which in turn led to him being wrestled down and shot with a stun gun.

The 29-year-old was taken shortly after the arrest to a nearby hospital before being taken to custody.

The American Athletic Association is currently declining to comment on the incident.

Fred Kerley has several track and field achievements to his credit. He took Olympic silver in the 100 meters in Tokyo 2020 and bronze in the same distance in the Paris Olympics last year.
