Athletics: Jakob Ingebrigtsen won the 1500 meters in front of the home crowd in the Bislett Games

The 1500 meters race, which was the last to take place in the Bislett Games in Oslo, was of the highest class. In fact, the first seven finishers were faster than the previous world annual best of 3.31.96.

Ingebrigtsen’s winning time was 3.29.74, 2.6 seconds off his personal best. But it was by the hair, and it required a somewhat unorthodox finish for him to win.

– I felt that it was getting a bit tough, because I had run as hard as I could. Then you have to try to win in the ways you can, says Ingebrigtsen to SVT Sport.

“A very good race”

The victory was a welcome statement of form for Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who sat out the entire indoor season due to a hamstring injury.

– It is a very good race. There was a lot of uncertainty recently and many great runners. So running under 3.30 I must say is very good, he says.
