Athletics: Gjert Ingebrigtsen broke into court: “There is no bitterness”

Last week, the trial began against Gjert Ingebrigtsen. On Monday, it was his turn to be heard in court.

The 59-year-old father is charged with mental and physical abuse by two of his seven children, running star Jakob Ingebrigtsen and the only daughter, who has asked to be anonymous.

– We had no role models that told us how we would raise our children, says Gjert Ingebrigtsen According to NRK.

– Life with children has given more joy than sadness. There is no bitterness, we make all our choices.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who has double Olympic and World Cup gold outdoors and holds the world record of 3,000 meters outdoors, told during the trial last week about an incident when he was eight years old. He should then have behaved poorly in school, which caused the school to report to the father.

According to the indictment, his father must then have hit him with his palm on both sides of his head (according to Jakob 10-20 times) and also with high screams.

Tears in court

Gjert Ingebrigtsen believes that the children were given freedom under responsibility.

– We have not exercised any kind of punishment. I spent a lot of time when my children grew up implementing non -violence. They were not allowed to have toy weapons, swords or games where violence was part of the picture.

– On the other hand, I have been keen to explain to the children the meaning of consistency.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen was in tears during his interrogation in the courtroom and admitted that the situation is “incredibly difficult”. He admits that the rules at home were sometimes tough, but that he never punished anyone.
