Athletics: Armand Duplantis won the Diamond League final

Armand Duplantis needed no more than two jumps to win the Diamond League final again, for the fourth consecutive year.

The Swede went in at 5.62 – and unsurprisingly, he cleared the jump in first place. Then Duplantis stood over double heights before tackling 5.92.

At 5.92, all competitors tore themselves out – and Duplantis then attempted the arena record of 6.11.

Mondo managed that at first, too.

– It was more difficult than you think. Only three jumps is quite nice. But I knew I had no more in my body and legs. I don’t feel so good, I’m a little too tight and it’s a little cold.

What was it like to take the stadium record?

– It felt like I had one more hope in me. I thought I would take it first, then go home and enjoy the evening. It was perfect with 6.11 and another record.

“Perhaps not as hard as the Olympics”

Now it will be several months until Duplantis gets to see his pole vaulting buddies again – so there will be a lot of partying during the evening.

– I look forward to it. It might not be as hard as the Olympics, but you never know. It will be fun.
