It was during the pole jump gala All Star Perche in Clermont-Ferrand, France, that “Mondo” struck again. Lightly, he took over 5.65, 5.91, 6.02 and 6.07 – and already there the competition was won after Emmanouil Karis was forced to break.
Duplantis then chose to raise directly to the world record height 6.27 and succeeded on the first attempt.
– It feels really damn wonderful. I knew I had the potential and that I could do it, says Duplantis.
The record was a trim with one centimeter of his previous record.
– I’ll enjoy this and have a good time. Probably I will party a little tonight too, says Duplantis.
He is praised by SVT Sports expert Alhaji Jeng:
– He is like a locomotive. It’s like a Swisserur. He is so dot -proof, says Jeng.
This is the eleventh time Duplantis sets a world record during his career. The gala was arranged by the French legend Renaud Lavillenie.
