It was about the pole-jumping star’s season premiere in Berlin-where Armand Duplantis finally made up for the victory with the Olympic bronze medalist from this summer: Emmanouil Karais.
The 25-year-old Swede flew easily over the bar until 6.02. At that height, however, it stopped the competitor from Greece. He tore out.
– Mondo jumps better and better technically the higher the bar raises, says SVT’s expert Alhaji Jeng.
– He looks really fast.
Set a competition record
Duplantis continued, after the victory, to jump and the bar went up to 6.10. He passed the second attempt, to the audience’s great cheer as that height involves a new competition record.

– It actually felt very good. In the beginning I could not find the rhythm in the approach, man I felt good in the body. It feels very najs with 6.10 as well, Duplantis tells SVT Sport.
– It’s just a little technical stuff and timing to find the feeling.
The Blågule star thus cracked her own listing at 6.06.
But Duplantis was obviously not finished there.
Went for the world record
The giant gave up at the world record height, 6.27. After two failed attempts, he thanked him.
– I didn’t take any real hope there. That’s what it is. It just felt like the legs were over. I didn’t have much more in my body.
Do you have a new world record in you this year?
– Yes, of course. This was a great premiere.
