Athletics: Andreas Kramer misses the final – finished second last in his heat

There was hope that Andreas Kramer would make it to the Olympic final – this as he broke the Swedish record for 800 meters several times during the spring.

The Swede opened offensively, but in the last lap the strength ran out and both Djamel Sedjati and Tshepiso Masalela passed Kramer. Then came almost the rest of the field as the Swede went from first place to finishing second last when he crossed the finish line in 1:46.52.

  • – It’s so sad, it was really heavy. I do a little as planned but I can’t take the last lap and the strength isn’t there. It’s strange because it felt good before, he says to Max.

    “Shall perform better”

    He continues:

    – I am here and will perform better. But it’s tough to get to the final, I had to act. I don’t know why the powers didn’t last.

Djamel Sedjati finished in 1:45.08 and directly qualified together with Tshepiso Masalela who was 25 hundredths behind Sedjati.
