Whoever thinks that the wrinkles and ailments accelerate extra quickly at a certain age may be right.
A new study presented in the journal Nature shows that the signs of aging increase especially at two periods in life.
Big changes
The researchers tracked thousands of different molecules in 100 people between the ages of 25 and 75 and discovered two major waves of change.
One occurred at age 44, the other at age 60.
Something that is not received with great enthusiasm by Efter fem’s presenters, Anna Brolin and Henrik Alsterdal, who are both on the 44-year mark.
– This is so hard, says Anna Brolin.
Doctor Mikael is skeptical
But Dr. Mikael Sandström calls for some skepticism in the interpretation of the survey.
– This is very early, more studies need to be done on larger groups. If this were to be found to be true, it would not be particularly surprising. We are biological beings and do not follow a linear behavior. We age a little depending on variations in hormones and things like that. And of course what happens in our lifestyle, he says.
Exercise crucial
And it doesn’t matter if the study turns out to be correct or not, the most crucial thing for our health is exercise half an hour a day every other day, says Mikael Sandström.
So no point bet helps?
– No. Exercise is a fresh commodity. We are made for movement and must continue to do so throughout our lives. Someone who exercises lives more than ten years longer than someone who doesn’t. So keep going, both at 44 and at 60, says Mikael Sandström.
