Until September 2022, Van der Tang was the regional chairman of the SGPJ Vallei & Rijn, representing Renswoude, Rhenen, Scherpenzeel, Veenendaal and Woudenberg. While in that position, he was also discredited for a video in which he explains that “man is the head of the woman, just as Jesus is also the head of all Christians”. At the time, the SGPJ felt it was “not responsible for the statements made by individual members”, and no further action was taken. Van der Tang remained chairman of the region. A big difference with the assessment that the SGPJ is now making.
