at the Munich conference Kamala Harris tackles Trumps foreign policy

US Vice President Kamala Harris is participating for the third time in the Munich Security Conference which opened on Friday and where many politicians and experts from around the world discuss current international crises. Without ever mentioning him, Kamala Harris took up the cause against the foreign policy defended by Donald Trump and received loud applause from the public present in Munich.

In this temple of the transatlantic relationship that the security conference traditionally symbolizes, the American vice-president’s vibrant plea for American commitment within NATO could not reassure the audience. A few days ago, Donald Trump affirmed that his country might not protect a threatened ally whose military spending would be insufficient. And the Republicans are reluctant to vote for new aid for Ukraine.

Kamala Harris pleaded for a multilateral policy for her country, for the defense of democracy. Without quoting Donald Trump, she denounced the foreign policy defended by the former president and his family. “ They believe it is in the interest of the American people to prefer isolationism. This vision is dangerous, destabilizing and short-sighted. This would weaken the United States. »

Kamala Harris wanted to show that Trump’s positioning harms the United States and the American people. The vice-president stressed that the foreign policy she defends is not purely idealistic, but benefits her country, to ensure its political and economic power and therefore the interests of its voters.
