At least one fallen streamer finds the words to inspire his fans after a tough year

Few streamers have had as tough a 2024 as Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm. In Germany, streamers like AnnieTheDuck and Simon Unge also fell deeply, but Dr Disrespect seems to be the only one of them who faces the public.

Who fell among streamers in 2024? Here in Germany in 2024 there were scandals involving AnnieTheDuck and Simon Unge, among others. These are influencers who were considered exemplary for many years, but whose image crumbled in just a few months when behavior that many viewed as immoral came to light.

There has always been a lot of excitement surrounding the US streamer Dr Disrespect. He never had such a clean image. In 2017, at the height of his success, he disappeared from the scene, later confessing that he had cheated on his wife. By 2020 at the latest, when he was permanently banned from Twitch, you knew something was up.

2024 was the year in which the circumstances of his ban became known: In 2017, he had exchanged sometimes inappropriate messages with a 17-year-old via the Twitch chat. The consequences of this misconduct many years ago caught up with the streamer in 2024: he lost many partnerships, friends distanced themselves from him, and he was demonetized on YouTube. It didn’t help him that he kept saying that nothing illegal had happened – he was just joking. The catchphrase “underage” alone was enough for even long-time friends to distance themselves from him.

You are not just fans or followers, you are family

This is what he says now: In a long message on X to his fans on December 31, 2024, Dr Disrespect does not talk about mistakes or guilt, but above all about gratitude. He explains how grateful he is to his “true fans” who stood by him during the storm.

Many false friends left him; they were only friends with him as long as it was convenient. But that doesn’t matter to him, he can also forgive.

But ultimately the only thing that matters to him is his fans: those who are always there, who believe in you, who don’t doubt. These people drove him on, he did everything for them.

Dr Disrespect says he loves what he does, he loves entertaining people – in 2025 he will continue to do just that. It will be his biggest year yet. He’s not just looking for advertising partners, but people with whom he can build something long-term.

Anyone who follows him is not just a follower, is not just a fan, they are part of the family.

Dr Disrespect relies on a “now more than ever” strategy

This is the reaction: With a little distance you might see everything as too pathetic or calculating, but the narrative “I’m only doing this because of you, you are extremely important to me” is actually very well received by people.

In any case, Dr Disrespect seems to have caught himself a bit now. Although the path to Twitch and YouTube is blocked, it has now found monetization on controversial platforms such as X and Rumble.

It remains to be seen whether he will really manage to achieve a level of popularity similar to that of 2018 and 2019 on Twitch, when he was considered the face of the platform and signed big deals.

He has apparently decided to live with his tarnished reputation and not try to explain his way out of it in any way, but rather to say: “I was treated badly, I made mistakes, but I’m still here.” This is how Dr Disrespect just as Asmongold predicted and recommended in August 2024: Dr Disrespect is back and nastier than ever – Twitch streamer judges: “He has nothing left to lose”
