The alarm came shortly after 12 o’clock on Saturday about an avalanche in Meløy municipality, and about a witness seeing a person being dragged along in the avalanche.
When the emergency services arrived at the scene, they were able to unearth a person who was found to be dead. It is unclear if more people were affected.
An avalanche has also occurred in Ørsta, between Bergen and Trondheim. There, a person was reported missing, but this could be dug up alive.
