The extensive wildfires that started in early July have created pressure on the country’s government to declare a state of emergency in the region.
At least one person has died in the wildfires that are burning North Macedonia, the authorities said on Monday. According to the authorities, the death happened near the city of Kumanovo in the northern parts of the country.
In the afternoon, a total of more than 40 wildfires raged around the country, most of which were in the eastern parts of the country. Numerous villages have had to be evacuated from the path of the fires.
