First bird flu death in the US

The US has had its first bird flu death.

It concerns a patient in the state of Louisiana, who has been hospitalized since mid-December. The victim had been in contact with sick and dead birds that were kept on private property in a backyard.

The risk for the public to become infected remains low, points out the health authority in Louisiana.

So far, about 60 people have fallen ill in the latest outbreak of bird flu in the United States, but others have had milder symptoms. Most of the cases have been linked to animal husbandry.

In the past, the United States Department of Agriculture USDA has ordered tests of unpasteurized milk throughout the country.

Explosion at house: “Homemade bomb”

The police arrested three people in their 20s during the night of Tuesday after an explosion in Valdersmarso in Malmö.

The alarm came in half an hour after midnight. According to Sydsvenskan, there was minor damage to a door on one of the houses in a cottage village.

No one was in the cabin. The police have started a preliminary investigation into public dangerous devastation.

Shooting in residential area

A suspicious shooting occurred on Monday evening in Landskrona.

– We are there with technicians and gun dogs on site. A villa has received damage that could come from gunshots and many have heard bangs, says Thomas Paulsson, officer on duty at the police.

The alarm about the shooting came at 9:50 p.m., but the police operation continued in the villa area even after midnight.

A family lived in the shelled house and survived without physical damage.

– There is no known threat image, says Thomas Paulsson.

Explosion at garage door

An explosion has occurred at a garage in Västerås.

The emergency services are on site.

– It appears to be a minor explosion with an impact on a garage door. There are no injuries, says duty officer Jesper Hesselgren.

Police operation in garage after robbery

At 7pm on Monday evening, the police launched an operation in a garage in Saltsjö-Boo outside Stockholm.

A man was robbed and beaten. He managed without serious injuries, the police said.

All affected are women aged 90 and 95 who live in Karlshamn and Hörvik.
