– There are eight people dead in the landslide on Ischia. Rescue workers are working in difficult conditions, Italy’s Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini said in a statement, according to Reuters.
The landslide was triggered after heavy rainfall and is said to have contributed, among other things, to vehicles being pulled into the sea. Among the missing is a family with a baby. Authorities are now urging the local population to stay indoors while rescue work is carried out.
