At least 46 dead have been found in a roasting truck in South Texas, according to US police. The horrific discovery was made after the truck was found abandoned in a sparsely populated area, writes The New York Times. Among the dead are men as well as women, teenagers and young adults. The people are believed to have been smuggled to the United States and 16 survivors, 12 adults and four children, have been taken to a hospital in San Antonio. – It is nothing but a terrible human tragedy, says San Antonio mayor Ron Nirenberg at a press conference, according to the TV channel KSAT. Police have arrested three people, but say it is unclear if they have a direct connection to human trafficking.
