At least 25 dead in school attack in Uganda – linked to IS

“So far, 25 bodies have been retrieved from the school and taken to the hospital in Bwerga,” writes police spokesperson Fred Enanga on social media.

The Islamist rebel group ADF, with links to the terrorist movement IS, is suspected of being behind the attack last Friday night. Among other things, they set fire to a dormitory.

The police say they are hunting the perpetrators who allegedly fled towards Virunga National Park in Congo-Kinshasa.

The ADF, which were originally rebels in Uganda, have since the 1990s been based in Congo-Kinshasa. Since then, they have been accused of killing thousands of civilians.

In January this year, the ADF claimed responsibility for an attack in a bar in eastern Congo-Kinshasa, in which at least 20 people were killed.
