At least 22 people were killed and 117 wounded Thursday when Israel struck the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The Lebanese Ministry of Health informs about the matter.
The death toll is the highest since Israel stepped up its attack on Lebanon last month.
Lebanese security sources say that Israel aimed to kill a high-ranking representative of the extremist organization Hezbollah with its attack on Beirut Wafiq Safan.
According to security sources, Safan reportedly survived the attack.
