At least 16 dead in Greek train crash

At least 16 people have died and many have been injured when a passenger train and a freight train collided in Greece on Wednesday night.

The accident happened near the city of Larissa, 38 kilometers north of the Greek capital Athens. According to the police, several train carriages derailed and at least three carriages caught fire.

Emergency services are on site and are searching for people who are feared to be trapped in the carriages.
