Iranian authorities say they have arrested more than 100 people in connection with the mysterious girls’ school poisoning case.

“ More than 100 people suspected of being responsible for the incidents in the schools have been identified, arrested and questioned “said the Ministry of the Interior. According to the press release, some of these individuals sought by chance to cause the closure of schools while others are suspected of having links with opposition groups, in particular the People’s Mujahedeen, which is fighting Iranian power. These people were arrested in several provinces, including those of Tehran and Qom in the north, eastern and western Azerbaijan in the northwest, or those of Kurdistan and Hamadan in the west.
Thousands of students affected
I’poisoning case girls who reached schools in twenty provinces caused great emotion across the country. Since November, we have witnessed identical scenes where young girls are taken ill following the strong smell of gas. In total, authorities have listed more than 5,000 students have been affected in “ some 230 schools » in 25 of the country’s provinces
In early March, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned the crimes and called for harsh sentences. These cases of intoxications intervened following the demonstrations after the death of the young Mahsa Amini arrested by the morality police for bad wearing of the Islamic veil. Iran has more than 107,000 schools and half of the 15 million primary and secondary school students are girls.
