The star plays in the film, which was indexed uncut in Germany for a long time and is now available uncut on Amazon Prime to rent or buy * his most disturbing role to date. The film’s story takes place in Chicago, where the main character Henry (Michael Rooker) lives with his sidekick Otis (Tom Towles) in a run-down apartment. Between frustration, television and beer, Henry keeps disappearing for strange forays. When Otis finds out that his friend is cold-blooded, he becomes an accomplice just as ruthlessly.

In Germany, the murder scenes from the 1992 film in particular went too far. From 1994 to 2012 Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer was indexed with us in the uncensored version. Only then was he removed from the list and FSK re-examined in this country uncut with 18er release on DVD and Blu-ray published.

Director John McNaughton’s film is based on the case of real-life serial killer Henry Lee Lucas. Among other things, the American killed his own mother and killed numerous other people with his accomplice Ottis Toole. The exact number was never known, but Lucas once stated that killed over 3,000 people to have. However, upon closer scrutiny, many of these confessions turned out to be false statements.
