EU leaders gather in Brussels for a summit where migration is on the agenda. Since last year, the number of people seeking asylum in Europe has increased again.
Right now, thousands of people are living on the streets of Brussels. No one knows exactly how many are staying here, but it is clear that the EU countries want to reverse the trend.
Several countries want to reinforce the EU’s borders with fences and there are proposals to use aid and visas as means of pressure.
– To use the aid as some kind of bribe for a more or less corrupt government to want to receive its citizens, I and many people with me think that is completely the wrong way to go, says Alice Bah Kuhnke member of the European Parliament.
