On the grounds of the DierenPark there is a house with a large garden behind a fence. This is where Astrid Vis still lives. “I have so many great memories here,” she says, leafing through a book of old photos. The sun is still shining through the leaves, which rustle softly in the wind. In the background you can hear birds chirping, children playing and… a lion roaring. “I have the most beautiful backyard in the Netherlands. It’s a little paradise,” says Vis with a twinkle in her eye.
