The police were called to the square in the western Swedish town of Vara at 00:40. Witnesses saw how a man in his 30s was badly beaten. He was jumped on by several people and had to receive several punches in the face, states SVT who was the first to report the news.
The man was unconscious when he was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
– He is still unconscious. We’ll see if we can send a patrol to the hospital and question him, said Magnus Schildt, duty officer at the police, later in the night.
A preliminary investigation into serious assault has been initiated. A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after witnesses provided information to the police.
– He will be questioned at the station. They talk about several people who were involved, but at the moment only one has been arrested, said Magnus Schildt.
