A Chatham man is facing a charge of assault with a weapon after a marijuana cigarette was flicked at a woman during a clash in Tilbury over a parking space.

Chatham-Kent police were called to Fort Street in Tilbury just before 5:30 am Wednesday amid a reported neighborhood dispute, police said. The area is a residential district.

Police said there was a confrontation between a man and a woman over a parking spot, which escalated when the lit joint was flicked at the woman and struck her in the forehead.

A Chatham man, 25, surrendered to police at the Tilbury station. He was charged with assault with a weapon and released with conditions and a May 13 court date, police said.

Missing Ridgetown teenager found safe

A teenage Ridgetown girl who had been reported missing has been found and is safe, Chatham-Kent police said Friday.

Police had reported that the 15-year-old was last seen on Thursday at 4:45 pm on Church Street in Ridgetown and that her family and police were concerned for her wellbeing.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the public and the media for their assistance and support during this time. Your efforts have been invaluable in helping us locate her,” police said.

Man struck with cooking pot, woman charged

A Dutton woman is charged with assault with a weapon after a man was struck by a cooking pot in Blenheim, leaving him with a minor injury, police say.

Police say they investigated a disturbance on Chittim Road at 6:40 pm Wednesday and learned an argument between a man and woman took place and the man was struck by the cooking utensil.

A Dutton woman, 36, was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, police said. She was released with conditions and a May 27 short date.
