In order to make players wait a little longer before the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft has published an FAQ on its networks. Critic revelations, some frustrating, have been revealed.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows presents itself as the last chance game for Ubisoft. The studio has in fact been accumulating a series of setbacks for several years, which seem to never end. After its mass layoffs, the elimination of XDefiant due to lack of success or even the strikes organized by its employees, the future of the French company seems ever more compromised.
This is why Assassin’s Creed Shadowthe latest title from one of these flagship licenses, is a major issue for the studio. Ubisoft seems fully aware of its position, having postponed the release of the game twice to refine the final details and improve the experience of its players. The wait is long for fans, but Ubisoft is looking to alleviate the boredom with a FAQ, just published on social networks.
Answers to community questions
Concerns are growing among players, asAssassin’s Creed Shadows should soon arrive on all platforms. In order to allay the fears of its community, Ubisoft took the lead in answering players’ questions. Among these, “Will it be possible to play with Japanese voices?”or “How do the base and its improvements look, compared toAC Valhalla ?”.
Ubisoft took particular pleasure in clarifying the functioning of the two playable characters ofAssassin’s Creed Shadowsnamely Yasuke and Naoe: “For main missions and most open world content, you can use any character you want. However, some activities will be dedicated to just one of the two”.
Further on, Ubisoft reveals more about the lifespan ofAssassin’s Creed ShadowsWho “is comparable to those ofAC Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla“. Logically, it would be between 50 and 60 hours of play, although “playing time is always difficult to assess given everyone’s playing styles”.
Ubisoft subsequently specifies thatAssassin’s Creed Shadows does not benefit from multiple endings, although there is “several ways to arrive” at the conclusion of the story, “which will above all determine who will or will not be at your side during the adventure”.
This iconic character will not be in the casting
Ubisoft has reserved the best, or rather the worst, for itself at the very end of its FAQ. The French studio concluded its question/answer session by revealing that a character very popular with fans would not be part of the adventure ofAC Shadows. To the question “Are we going to see Basim again?”the studio says no, “Basim is not part of the story”.
Introduced in 2020 in the opus AC Valhalla, the character of Basim has won the hearts of players. Complex, unique, and essential in the history of the game, the Master Assassin left no one indifferent. His absence in AC Shadows did not fail to cause a reaction on the networks: “No, but why introduce a character as complex as Basim […] to throw it in the trash afterwards”protests an Internet user. “This is nonsense! Fans have been asking for this for years but you’re giving us a disjointed story that changes with each opus!”another gets carried away.
From disappointment to disappointment, the gaming community openly blames this decision by Ubisoft. What is certain is that this new awkwardness plunges even further Assassin’s Creed Shadows in bitterness and disillusionment.
