(Finance) – Today ASPI inaugurated the new three-lane section of the A1, between Barberino and Firenze Nord, a work of great technological and environmental value. The CEO of ASPI Roberto Tomasi in an interview with Finance he defined it as a “point of excellence of the country’s engineering” and reminded him important investments made.
“It is an important moment for the development of the country because the infrastructure is an enabler for the revival of the economy“, underlined the manager, explaining” the connection between North and South is crucial, especially between two very important road junctions such as Bologna and Florence, it is fundamental in order to relaunch the economy “.
About the sustainabilityTomasi recalled that in the motorway section there is the Europe’s largest three-lane tunnelthe Santa Lucia, more than seven kilometers long.
“We have excavated about 4 million cubic meters, 3 million cubic meters have been placed in the Bellosguardo area where a service area of approximately 38 hectares will be built. All the materials – recalled the CEO of ASPI – they were checked to verify their environmental sustainability. It must be recognized that it was a job that involved various skills: from the Istituto Superiore di Sanità to the CNR, without forgetting the continuous control of the Arpat. Everything has allowed this to be a project of great environmental importance “.
“From a technological point of view, however, we have used the largest cutter ever used in Europe, a socket of about 16 meters in diameter, a 70 meter long machine. We have had peaks of about 20 meters per day and to give an order of magnitude it means digging about 4 thousand cubic meters of bench earth per day, so a technological challenge of absolute importance“.
