Asmongold explains why people don’t like him, then reads why they really don’t like him

While Asmongold ranks as the biggest MMORPG streamer on Twitch, that doesn’t mean everyone can relate to his kind. In a recent stream, he was confronted with more than 500 reasons people don’t like him.

What was that situation? As with many of his colleagues, a certain proportion of Asmongold’s streams consist of so-called reactions: he watches content together with his viewers and reacts to it.

In his own subreddit, fans can suggest topics that Asmongold then discusses in the stream. He recently came across two threads in which Reddit and Steam users discussed their aversion to the streamer.

Loud, rowdy and aggressive

What were those threads? In the Baldur’s Gate 3 forum on Steam, a player asked why people don’t like Asmongold. He himself considers him a great streamer. In almost 250 comments, Steam users then explain what they have against Asmongold (as of August 10, 2023).

Separately, a similar topic was discussed on the Gamingcirclejerk subreddit. The thread is for a video in which Asmongold criticized the style many games are written in these days. MeinMMO editor Schuhmann also described this as “Buffy Syndrome”. There, 570 comments discussed what was wrong with the streamer.

What is Asmongold thinking? The twitch streamer thinks he knows exactly what some people have against him: he’s loud, rough, aggressive. In addition, he is always very sure of what he says, even if others think he is wrong. That would make her really angry.

Why don’t people really like him?

  • ZetaLordVader: “The guy just makes silly faces and gives superficial and mindless reviews.”
  • YOURPALFROG: “Asmongold is so bad he’s almost likable. As if the crumbs in your keyboard had become conscious.”

    • In fact, Asmongold seems to have been fairly correct in his assessment, although he probably didn’t anticipate the creativity with which users express their dislike.

    But not everyone has something against the MMORPG streamer. While some are quite neutral and say they have nothing against him, just don’t care about content creators in general, others even appreciate his analysis.

    Time and time again, however, it turns out that the “role” that Asmongold takes on in its streams isn’t for everyone. Others criticize less the streamer himself, but rather his community.

    Asmongold takes it easy. He responded to the Reddit thread with over 500 comments with a simple: “Okay.” The users in this subreddit were not satisfied with him even during the controversy surrounding Hogwarts Legacy. Now they are dissatisfied with him again.

    At the time, the streamer had shown little sympathy for the game’s critics:
