Asllani hopes for a comeback in this weekend’s derby

“I have increased my training and hope to be back this Saturday, but it is clear that it has been a tough spring, really tough in fact,” Asllani told the newspaper.

The 33-year-old has had problems with his groin since the beginning of the year. Now the hope is that the worries will be over before the WC in Australia and New Zealand this summer.

— It was a mistake we made that I rushed back too quickly. With groin and hip it is sensitive, it takes longer. And with my style of play, it puts a lot of strain on those muscles. But now we’ve given it a good amount of time this time, so I hope it will hold up well now, says “Kosse” to DN.

Confederation captain Peter Gerhardsson presents the WC squad on 13 June. Sweden plays its opening match against South Africa on July 23.
