Asked the neighbor to stop hissing – then he shot five people dead

Five people were shot and killed in what police are calling an “execution-like” shooting in Cleveland, Texas, Saturday night. The youngest victim was an eight-year-old boy. The suspected 39-year-old perpetrator is still at large, reports the news agency AP.

It was on the night of Saturday, at 11:30 p.m. local time, that the police were called to a residence in the Texas town of Cleveland. When they arrived at the scene, they found four people who had been shot to death, reports ABC News. The fifth person later died in hospital.

Police suspect that the crime occurred after the suspect was asked to stop firing a weapon in his yard, when the victims said they were trying to put an infant inside the home to sleep.

The 39-year-old responded by going over to the neighboring house where he entered and opened fire.

Shot from the neck up

At least ten people are said to have been in the home when the police arrived at the scene. In addition to the eight-year-old boy, three women and a man are also said to have been killed in connection with the act of insanity.

Police Chief Greg Capers states during a press conference that all victims were shot from the neck up. He calls the act an “execution-like” shooting.

The perpetrator is at large

The suspect, who according to ABC News allegedly fired an AR-15 semi-automatic weapon, is still at large. He is also said to have been drunk at the time of the incident.

The authorities have previously been to the suspect’s home, after he fired a gun in the garden.
