Asia’s leading stock markets retreat
The leading stock markets in Asia retreated on Thursday. Investors’ worries about a recession in the US increased ahead of approaching US jobs figures that could influence the US central bank’s next interest rate decision.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was down 0.3 in morning trade. Shenzhen’s composite index had retreated by the same amount and in Shanghai the composite index is trading at minus 0.2 percent.
The mood was even more pessimistic in Tokyo, where the Nikkei 225 index was down 1 percent and the broader Topix index was down 0.9 percent in the morning.
