Asa Larsson wins German detective award

“With her six-part series about the Swedish prosecutor Rebecka Martinsson, Åsa Larsson succeeds in taking an inventory of Swedish society, which is not as upbeat as one would like to think,” was the jury’s motivation, which also appreciated the great role the city of Kiruna played in the detective series.

On her own Instagram, the author writes that she “tries to take in” the prize, which is one of Germany’s most prestigious awards: “A year ago I sat and tore with the book and thought: ‘No one will read it.’ So it’s really okay to doubt and despair, as long as you kneel. ”

The Radio Bremen Crime Prize has been awarded since 2001 and includes a prize money of 2,500 euros. Previous winners include the Swedish detective story writer Liza Marklund.
