If you don’t know where to start, we have three recommendations for you.

  • Marvel Pick #1: The best place to start is Daredevil. This MCU series started everything at Netflix and it formed the foundation of the franchise until the very end. The Kingpin character in particular left a lasting impression, not to mention the tough fight scenes that lead through dark corridors and are often filmed in just one take.
  • Marvel Recommendation #2: The first expansion of the MCU on Netflix turned out to be another hit. With Jessica Jones, the universe grew around an exciting detective story full of shadows Leading actress Krysten Ritter is a stunner, as is David Tennant, who embodies the manipulative villain Kilgrave. Jessica Jones is one of the best Marvel series out there.
  • Marvel Recommendation #3: A major appeal of the Netflix Marvel series was the central setting, New York. Each series approached the metropolis via a different part of the city. The most impressive is the hatch cage. There’s a sense of Harlem history at every second here – and at this point we haven’t even mentioned the fantastic soundtrack.
  • Do you have to watch the Netflix Marvel series on Disney+ to understand the MCU?

For a long time, the relationship was a one-off: the Netflix series were part of the MCU, but had no impact on the movies. Recently, however, that has changed. Characters like Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin now also wander through the big MCU stories of the Avengers thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye.
