It is the Swedish Transport Agency that approves whether you can become a supervisor and thus exercise privately.

What is needed to become a supervisor?

According to the Swedish Transport Agency, the following is required to be approved

  • You have turned 24 years old.
  • Your student has a valid driver’s license.
  • You and your student have completed an introductory training for the past five years, if the exercise run applies to passenger car or light truck.
  • You have a valid driver’s license from Sweden or another EEA country.
  • You must have permission for the vehicle type that you will practice with at least five of the last ten years.
  • Exceptions for a driver’s license apply if you practice to remove the condition for automatic switched vehicles or if you exercise choir for extended B-authorization when you already have a driver’s license.

    For each student with a training choir with, you must also make a separate application.

    Requirements to practice driving

    On The Swedish Transport Agency’s website Can you read about the requirements to get an exercise driving:

  • An approved supervisor
  • A driver’s license
  • Comply with the age requirement for the vehicle type you are going to practice with
  • A valid ID document
  • A valid introductory training (applies only in case of practice driving private for passenger car and light truck)
  • Only 35 percent of those who drive up privately manage the driver’s license, compared with 63 percent for those who do so through their traffic school.
