The Game Awards 2024 will be presented on the night of December 13th. The prestigious show is accompanied by countless trailers and brand new announcements every year. The first leaks often circulate on the Internet in the hours before the event. This year there is a leak that very few people believe.
What kind of leak is this? According to X user “Nima Zeighami,” Valve boss Gabe Newell could appear at the Game Awards and announce Half-Life 3. The user learned this from a person who was “well connected” in the gaming industry. However, the person in question is not an employee of Valve and he himself does not believe the rumor (via X.com).
An announcement of Half-Life 3 would probably be the biggest news of the year, because fans have been waiting for a new part of the popular shooter for 20 years – so far in vain. Both Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2 are still considered absolute classics and two of the best shooters of all time. Both titles enjoy at least 96% positive reviews on Steam – that’s extremely strong.
Valve is currently primarily developing its new MOBA shooter Deadlock:
The leak is so absurd, it could also pass as satire
How credible is the leak? Not at all. In recent years there have been similar rumors and a burning hope among fans, but so far none of these rumors have come true.
In addition, the “leaker” is not a well-known industry insider, such as Tom Henderson or the journalist Jason Schreier. Nima Zeighani works as Vice President of “Infinite Reality” for “Reality Studios” (via LinkedIn). Among other things, the company develops technologies similar to Metaverse.
We have not yet been able to find any connection between Zeighani and the gaming industry.
Since the “leak” sounds so incredibly absurd and unrealistic, it could almost pass as satire – perhaps as criticism or mockery of the Game Awards and the promised big announcements. For example, Jason Schreier, who is an excellent connected gaming journalist for Bloomberg, said that there will be at least 2 big announcements this year.
