As a run it was bad terribly restless

Sara Kuivisto has run a new Finnish indoor track record of 800 meters.

Sara Kuivisto has run a new Finnish indoor track record of 800 meters. Kuivisto ran in the athletics hall competitions in Madrid for the fifth time with a time of 2.02.36. Kuivisto improved its record in Finland by about three tenths in mid-February.

The competition was won by Austria Catriona Bisset in time 2.00.10.

– Of course, you always have to be happy with the record and the Finnish record, but in the run it was bad, terribly uneasy. There were ten runners in it, which is a little too much in a cramped indoor hall. The race was restless and I felt like I was in the wrong place all the time. A lot of power went into the squat, Kuivisto commented to Sport.

According to Kuivisto, the 800-meter race was good to run before the World Championships in March, when he will compete in the 1500-meter distance.

Kuivisto will leave for the World Championships with a recent Finnish record, as he pinched 1,500 meters earlier in February at 4.06.14. He improved the Finnish record in his own name at the time by as much as five seconds.

– Here is a couple of weeks to practice, because the competitions were here now and they can’t be found in Europe. I could aim for a final place in the World Cup halls. That would be a great thing.

Hurske was disappointed with his competition

Reetta Hurske took second place in Madrid in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.00. The competition was won by the Netherlands Zoe Sedney with a record 7.95.

– This was the first race of the winter that I was really disappointed with. I couldn’t manage to run up at all, my legs didn’t move properly, there was no control and there were bumps, Hurske lamented in a press release from the Finnish Sports Federation.

In the women’s high jump competition Ella Junnila was second with a score of 190 and Heta Tuuri Fifth with a result of 183. The height competition was won by Australia Eleanor Pattersonwhich exceeded the height of 196.

In a triple jump Simo Lipsanen was seventh with a score of 15.08. His first four jumps were overdone.

Samuelsson pinches his record

Samuli Samuelsson In turn, Aarhus, Denmark, recorded a record of 6.64 in Aarhus, Denmark, which is also the domestic top result of the season. Samuelsson was just 6.63 behind the World Cup.

– We went to look at the paint camera picture and based on that I won and ended up only a thousandth of a second from the result limit of the World Championships. That’s annoying. That limit could have gone now, although I am certainly pleased with my record, Samuelsson said in a SUL press release.
