Artist Cecilia Rebergen struggles with unruly industrial residual material

Cecilia has incorporated Lineair A into all kinds of paintings, sculptures and installations. But in the end she broadened it. “At a certain point I started making works for the public space, such as now in Zeist with the sculpture route. For that I threw all the notebooks of the world into a pile and I started painting them. For every fragment I used, I I picked out what it says if that was possible. What I’ve tried is to get it all in one direction, so that it says something about the place, or the shape of the sculpture or writings in general. That there isn’t a shopping list. But with the untranslated things you don’t know, that could just be a shopping list.”
