Artem Datsyshynthe principal dancer of the national ballet of the kyiv National Opera, has died at 43 years of age in the hospital of the Ukrainian capital, after he was seriously injured in a bombing that took place on February 26, as confirmed by the ‘BBC‘.
On the other hand, several of Datsyshyn’s opera partners have wanted to pay tribute to him, recalling his career at the Ukrainian National Opera. In addition to principal dancer, Datsyshyn graduated from the kyiv Choreographic Schooland toured the world where he participated in some of the most important stages. In this way, they have defined him as “a great artist” and an “excellent person”.
One of his former colleagues at the Opera, Ratmansky, a former principal dancer in kyiv and former artistic director of the Moscow Bolshoi Ballet, is now an artist-in-residence at the American Ballet Theater in New York and mourned his passing. “He was a beautiful dancer loved by his peers. The loss of him is an unbearable pain“, he expressed in statements to the aforementioned media.

The death of Artem Datsyshyn joins that of other famous Ukrainians, such as the actress Oksana Shvets, who passed away at the age of 61 after the attack carried out by the Russian army on a residential building in kyiv, or the actor and TV presenter Pasha Lee, 33 years oldand who died during the shelling by Russian troops of the Ukrainian city of Irpin.
