A man was arrested for arson following a fire at a Wheatley apartment building early Saturday morning that displaced several tenants, says Chatham-Kent police.

Police and firefighters were dispatched to the apartment on Erie Street North at 1:40 am

Firefighters were able to douse the fire and contain it to a single unit, police said.
Investigation determined the fire was intentionally set, police said.
A man was arrested and transported to police headquarters to be held for bail, police said.
There were no injuries caused by the fire, but smoke spread to several second-floor units, resulting in residents being displaced, police said.
These residents have been put up in local hotels with the assistance of Chatham-Kent Victim Services and the Red Cross, police said.
